Rights materials

[UPDATE (JULY 2023): The rights materials on this site are out of date. Please read our blog post to learn more.]

These materials were made to help people who are involuntarily hospitalized (certified) under BC’s Mental Health Act understand their rights. The materials are free for anyone to view, print, and distribute.

Our project funding has allowed us to print a small quantity of the materials, which we can send to hospitals and mental health teams on a first come, first served basis for the cost of shipping. Please contact us for details.

Once the first printing runs out, we can still print on your behalf but will invoice for both printing and shipping costs. (NOTE: We are out of pamphlets. We ask clinicians looking for these materials to speak to your Mental Health & Substance Use leadership about printing them through the health authority.)

Instead, we encourage you to send the print-ready digital files on this site to a local commercial printer and order the quantity that you need.

Vancouver Coastal Health staff can order a VCH-branded version of these materials from the Patient Health Educational Materials Resource Catalogue.

Our rights materials are now available in languages other than English.
